1:72 Airfix MiG-17F Fresco-C (Shenyang J-5) VPAF 932nd Fighter Regiment, Tho Zuan, Vietnam, August 1969 flow by ace Le Hai.
Le Hai claimed 6 victories during the Vietnam war (the US verified 2 of those, 2 F-4s) although for some reason Airfix have placed 7 stars on the nose of the aircraft. Probably copied from a museum aircraft.
The kit builds very well although you do have to be a little creative in how to add the required 20g of nose weight in such a small space…; I even added weight in to the front of the 2 fuel tanks!
The paint was my usual Hataka, but this time a base coat of Orange Line lacquer silver with Red Line acrylic for the 2 greens over that. Before fully curing I used a cocktail stick to “chip” through the greens to the rock-hard lacquer silver below to show a battered war-weary example.
